Cherry Willingham – Week 1

7 October, 2008

On week 1 of an 8 week course, we turned up to the school half an hour late due to the legendary Dan Hargreaves van ‘The White Knight’ dying before we set off.

so not an ideal start then, but after we arrived myself and Stuart  found that the school had an abundance of brand new gymnastics equipment, and a free-climb wall for us to use in our sessions. this got us motivated for one of my favourite classes to date. Read the rest of this entry ?

Classes/Workshops

26 September, 2008

The thing that everyone wants to hear!

Open classes are coming back very soon, on the 11th October to be exact!

Novice

There will be a new structure to them, with set registers, and set numbers of people per week (no more turn-ups and drop-outs) which means in order to get into them you need to sign up soon.
I will not be running them any more (takes all the stress out) so I can just enjoy the teaching

NOT THESE AWARDS - more like certificates

They will be hosted each and every Saturday for novices, the new name for the beginners class.

Many new activities will be included in the classes and one main thing… AWARDS (bare with me here)

Awards and certificates will be handed out depending on specific criteria related to the discipline of Parkour (not just the physical side)

For more information on how to sign up for the Novice classes please contact:

Extreme NK on 01522 870 252

or Email: extremenk@leisureconnection.co.uk

Lincs Parkour Community Workshops

These workshops will be (thanks to MARS) held FOR FREE

These workshops wont be starting on 11th of October as of yet

For these particular workshops, to get in you need to sign up in the topic on our forum,as they will be run by the community for the community.
this means you get to choose the dates and the times of the classes, and thus how often you want to train indoors.

Information on these sessions will be posted here on the blog in the near future

Any questions just ask below, I will do my best to answer them all for you

News Updates/Reveals

15 August, 2008

I thought i would like to keep everyone updated on the stuff thats going on behind the scenes that some people may not see, so here is a bit of behind the scenes/public info for you all

The Lincs Parkour community’s main page has been updated, and changed to a sweet new design by Ben Christian (Jammie) features links back to the blog, an updated portfolio, and a featured video section, for keeping up to date with the communitys video productions.

Trace: many of you attended the Trace Gathering in the Peak district, and if you were there you may have noticed that myself and Stuart have been introduced into the trace ranks. it is an honor to be held in such high regard as to join members of trace such as Jin, Blake and Cable, and Danny Ilabaca. I look forward to working with trace in the future, and all the exciting developments set to come in the future.

Clothing: we are looking into providing Trace Clothing direct through Lincs Parkour, and hopefully this could mean dicounts on the products, and eventually customised clothing for the community. (updates coming soon)

There are several new classes starting in september to add to the current classes in Christ Hospital School, and DeAston in Rasen. City School is aiming to have parkour classes hosted by us, and currently we are running summer classes in Sleaford. There are also classes to be introduced alongside gymnastics in Manby on the east coast and the Extreme Nk event in Sleaford on the 27th of August looks to be an exciting event with climbing, skateboarding, parkour and some inflatable water things.

A one off 2 day event is being hosted by Extreme NK, at the end of the month, for more info on attending the class contact extremenk@leisureconnection.co.uk

That’s all I have for now, feel free to comment, I will try to get back to everyone as quick as possible, keep checking back for updates for more info

PS: I hope you like Mars Bars ;-)

Class Updates

15 August, 2008

This is an update i should have made a while back,

ok, so as you may know by now, you probably know that the saturday classes in lincoln are temporarily off. the official reasoning behind it is “restructuring” whic involves setting class numbers/structures which are still in the planning stages, and insurance situations which would mean that we can teach in public areas outisde which would be nice.

I would like to think there is a summer break to ensure that everyone goes and practices outside in the glorious sunshine (if we ever get any)

The classes will definately be coming back and by definately I mean the ‘beginners classes’ will be coming back, the advanced/community workshops may not!

This is due to challenges from the school about who/when people have been climbing on the rooves, they have discovered the rooftop videos that some people have made whilst waiting for advanced sessions to start. so I may have a lot of negotiations to make before the advanced come back :(
it may end up becoming a once a month thing, which i wouldn’t mind to be honest~
