Cherry Willingham – Week 1

7 October, 2008

On week 1 of an 8 week course, we turned up to the school half an hour late due to the legendary Dan Hargreaves van ‘The White Knight’ dying before we set off.

so not an ideal start then, but after we arrived myself and Stuart  found that the school had an abundance of brand new gymnastics equipment, and a free-climb wall for us to use in our sessions. this got us motivated for one of my favourite classes to date. Read the rest of this entry ?

Mary Knox – Week 1

7 October, 2008

This is the Mary Knox educational centre in Lincoln, its main aim is to help pupils who have been suspended or excluded from schools around Lincolnshire.

you would expect these kids to be rowdy and naughty, but when we got there we were treated with nothing but respect (except for a comment made about me being ‘emo’ – I don’t see it myself)

without any prior experience, the kids jumped straight in, focusing on the fundamental basics of Parkour. Read the rest of this entry ?

City Of Workshops

3 October, 2008

Right guys, so on Wednesday 1st October, myself and Dale headed to The Priory City of Lincoln Academy to do a full days worth of workshop with every year in the school ! The day commenced at 8:30am with me and dale in an awesome gymnasium with more than enough equipment to our disposal,

The apparatus included:

6 Horses

Huge Climbing Frames

Wooden Wall Rails

Crash mats

Gym Mats

And plenty more

With these Items we both began too set up a three lane assault course. First it started it with a simple vaulting horse, Then onto the climbing frame with plenty of options to go through or over both sides of it, next up is the box jump to dive roll and then straight from the dive roll to the wooden rails again there were so many ways of moving through, over, or under this apparatus but what ever way of moving you may of taken you had to then be straight back to running to do a wall run to reach a certain point on the wall after this it was to then turn around vault again which led into a pop up on to a high vaulting horse once on top you would then drop of and roll then sprint right back to the queue, sounds easy enough now but it wasn’t by far you had to be pretty fit and agile to conquer this obstacle course!

With our first class coming in at 9:00am me and dale prepared ourselves by chatting briefly about what we would teach and how we would help the students learn to overcome the course. Read the rest of this entry ?
