Wizzles of Oz II

10 July, 2008

Well, its ages since I have posted on here, so I figured I’d update you with whats been going on, Down Under.

Training is going good, I’ve seen some nice improvements in strength, however mental confidence has gone down a little. I did do the small wharf jump in Sydney a few weeks ago, something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. It consists of jumping from the land to a thin, swaying piece of wood which is about 8 feet above Sydney Harbour. The gap isn’t far, however the many variables and possibility of swimming with the fishes in the Harbour make it quite a challenge. I guess that pushed my confidence up quite a bit. I remember feeling quite light headed after doing it, whether that was from the swaying of the wharf or not, I don’t know!

Currently I am saving up for the National Gathering, which this year is held in Canberra – basically its 3 days of training with the locals of the city, and whoever else from around the country turns up! I’m hoping to meet people from Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and possibly Perth. But how does Wizzles have money you ask?!

I’m currently working (yay!) in a restaurant, with fairly good hours – evenings at weekends, so I have the rest of the days to train.

Also, I am training to be able to teach at the Australian Parkour Association classes in Sydney, along with other members of Sydney Parkour. I have helped run a few classes already, and hopefully I’ll get my assistant instructor t-shirt soon. Should be teaching again this Sunday 13th July.

I have made a few little videos at my park and village, I think you’ve already seen them, but Im currently working on a Winter 08 video. I had planned to go many places in my 3 week break, like Sutherland and stay at a friends house, but that probably won’t happen anymore. Oh well, I have filmed a few things at home, and will probably do some in Sydney and Penrith as well. Read the rest of this entry ?

19th July – Kind of a big deal

10 July, 2008

Hey guys sorry its taken me so long to put an update about whats going on, the only excuse is that there is so much going on in Lincs Parkour’s little world, that it would be impossible to update about everything! (plus iv moved house and don’t have an internet connection.

so anyway 2 new workshops have started up, one in Yarborough, Lincoln. and one in DeAston, Rasen. both taster sessions went well, and we are looking forward to starting these classes in the new school year. DeAston is of particular note as it is the first Lincs Parkour independently run class that we are hosting. no councils, no charities, just lincs parkour and alot of hard work.

we have done a few performances with the Lincolnshire council, and children’s partnership schemes, and are soon starting a summer workshop in Sleaford as part of the councils summer activities program. this is all in Addition to the Parkour classes held at NK sports center from 3pm-5pm each Saturday.

anyway, the BIG NEWS

Extreme NK, LincsParkour.net and the British Parkour Coaching Association, are pleased to offer Parkour students in Lincolnshire the opportunity to work with and learn from 10 of the best Parkour practitioners and teachers (you can guess who) from across the country, as they head to Lincoln to complete the next level of their British Parkour Coaching Qualifications.

This special teaching event will be hosted at NK Sports centre on the 19th of July 2008
3pm for absolute novices and 3:30pm through till 5:30pm for novice to intermediate students. Each 2hr Session costs only £6.

This event is open to everyone. The places are strictly limited to 50 students in each session, and demand is guaranteed to be high, so it is important that you return the application form at the bottom of this post as early as possible to ensure a place on the course.

All successful applications will be confirmed by phone.
